In my first book Taming Life – Happiness Is Not a Myth, I talk in depth about controlling stress and the effects it has on our body and mind. This is also known as “The Body Mind“.  Our biggest threat, in a state of stress, is the hormone Cortisol, which primes our body for instant action.  When the Hypothalamus, Pituitary and Adrenal Axis fire up, our body releases Cortisol. As stated earlier, this is a very strong hormone that if constantly present in our bodies, can cause us more harm than good, both mentally as well as physically.

Stress Symptoms

Some of the many symptoms of having high Cortisol levels in the body for prolonged periods of time are as follows: weight gain, fragile, easy to bruise skin, muscle weakness, mood changes, High blood pressure and potential cardiovascular issues, among many others. Stress is a very common condition in today’s society. It affects, possibly billions of people around the world, young and old. But this is a manageable condition once you understand what it is, how it develops, and how you can deal with it.
