Mental Health Week October 2015

Depression.  The silent Killer.
by Tony Jarrah

As the year slowly comes close the end of 2015 we hear a lot about mental health.  There seems to be a global epidemic of people suffering from mental health issues and many are unfortunately committing suicide.  In Australia close to 1900 men are committing suicide every year and over six hundred women are also committing suicide every year.

Trust Good People

We Have a Symbiotic Relationship

With Other People

Trust good people because people can affect your life at a deep, deep level. Some people can have a very positive effect on you and some, not so much.
If you drink a glass of water it can keep you alive. We need water, we can’t live without it. As much as water can give you life, though, it can kill you if it’s badly accompanied, for example, if you poison the water, you will die.  It’s still water, but it’ll kill you.

Water can feel good. On a hot summer day a cold glass of water will feel extremely good, but if the water is boiling, it’ll hurt you, it’ll burn your lips, mouth, throat and esophagus, but it’s still water. You can’t live without it.   Continue reading

Laughter as Therapy

You might not believe this but laughter really is the best medicine.

(From my book “Taming Life – Happiness Is Not a Myth”)

Doctor William Fry was an American psychiatrist at Stanford University, who is considered to be the daddy of, get this, “Gelotology”, which is the study of humour as therapy.  Dr Fry founded Gelotology and was a pioneer in the field of therapeutic humour.  He began to study the effects of humour as a therapy in the late 1960s. Change Your Brain – Change Your Life

Tony Jarrah Writer and Author

Anyone that has read my book “Taming Life – Happiness Is Not a Myth” will tell you that I have developed a fascination with the human brain and with human biology.  I’m not a scientist, nor am I an expert in these two fields of study but in simple terms, I understand what happens inside our bodies, at least enough to be a little concerned with the way we treat our bodies. Turning Your Life Around

What if someone said something to you that would

completely turn your life around in an instant?

In writing my book “Taming Life – Happiness Is Not a Myth” I first start with discussing the fact that if we are not happy, then by default we must have some kind of a problem.  But what is a problem?  This will differ from person to person and it will have varying degrees of hold over us.

The reason something is a problem for me and not for you is because I see life from a different perspective than you do. And vice versa.  The reason this happens is because Continue reading

Doing For Others

Life has a way of sometimes bringing us down.  Be it through work, finances, poor health or bad relationships.  When we find ourselves in situations that bring us down we often feel that there is no way of coming back up, or in the least of cases, we feel that it will be a hard struggle to feel better… Unless we are doing for others.

Forgiving & Forgetting

Forgive and Forget Or let go and walk away.

Victims

I think it’s safe to say that at some point in our lives we have all felt like victims for one reason or another.  For as long as people interact with other people there is always going to be occasions where someone offends someone else.  The severity of the offense will dictate to what degree the person at the receiving end will feel offended.  Feeling like a victim can be something that can stay with us for days or even years. Sometimes it can completely take over our lives and robbing us of a happy life.

A Man’s Essence.

A MAN’S ESSENCE

“To capture a man’s essence in an instant is not only unfair to the man but also not fair to yourself. One never knows what the man had to endure in the moment prior or how the man will evolve in the moment following.”

The thinking that first impressions count is an unfair man-made thing. It’s based in fear, ridicule, judgment and apathy.

I once saw a woman get into a terrible argument with a check out girl in the supermarket.  There was no swearing or screaming, just complaining about the ridiculously rising grocery prices (which are truly ridiculous here).  The woman wouldn’t let it go so ultimately they asked her to leave.

Creating “Happy”

Creating Happy Blog Post by Tony Jarrah

I wrote this post on the 16th of August 2013.

As I endured through my painful life – if you could call what I had back then a life – I was licking my wounds, nursing my bruises, lamenting my loses and suffering the monumental, soul destroying defeats life had inflicted on me.  I finally discovered myself.  After decades of suffering, some of it self inflicted, I finally learned the lessons of releasing the past and letting go of the ridiculous ‘ideals’ life had brain washed into my core beliefs.  I finally detached myself from materialism and the need to be accepted by people that had trespassed upon me or invaded my space, my energy field. I awoke.  I became self aware.
